Product design meets feline chaos
Every Stoned Cats toy is shaped by real-world testing, careful safety choices, and a very determined quality assurance team with claws.

Tested by cats. Improved by humans. Approved for chaos.
The first prototype
At first, our rescued plushie toys were going to include a small catnip pocket sealed with hook-and-loop fastener. The idea was simple: open the pocket, add fresh catnip, close it up, and let the cat enjoy a refreshed toy.
On paper, it looked like a smart reusable design. Then the prototypes went into live testing.
Reality check
Once the volunteer test subjects were exposed to the toys, the pocket system failed within the hour. The cats worked the closure open, extracted the catnip, and proved that any weak point in a toy will be discovered immediately.

Safety first
Snaps could hold better than Velcro-style closures, but hard pieces may be unsafe if a cat chews or bites down during play.
Zippers add metal or hard plastic parts. That may create tooth, mouth, or chewing hazards for cats that attack toys with enthusiasm.
Stronger closures solved one problem but introduced another. We decided the safest choice was to remove the refill pocket entirely.
A better scent system
Testing also showed that not every cat responds strongly to catnip alone. Some cats respond better to silvervine and related natural plant compounds.
That led us to develop a broader botanical approach using a balanced blend of catnip and silvervine to create a more consistent response across more cats.
The refresh plan
Instead of adding a removable catnip pocket, Stoned Cats toys are infused with catnip and silvervine extract during production. The scent is added to the toy fabric and stuffing so the whole plushie becomes part of the experience.
Each toy will come with a Catnip & Silvervine Refresh Spray that can be used every 4 to 6 weeks, or whenever your cat decides the toy needs another round of zoomies.
The final design
The final Stoned Cats design avoids hard fasteners, removes easy-to-open catnip compartments, and uses a refreshable scent system instead. The result is a softer, safer, longer-lasting toy that can be renewed without adding zippers, snaps, or loose catnip pockets.
